Whether it is a simple activity or an enormous accomplishment it is the universal feeling of euphoria and of reaching your full potential that underlines the meaning of a ‘peak experience’.

We are on a mission to introduce more people to outdoor adventures, however big or small, and showcase the life changing benefits these exciting new experiences can have.

In 1964 the famous psychologist Abraham Maslow developed the concept of the peak experience and described them as “rare, exciting, oceanic, deeply moving, exhilarating, elevating experiences that generate an advanced form of perceiving reality, and are even mystic and magical in their effect upon the experimenter.” Whether it is a simple activity or an enormous accomplishment it is the universal feeling of euphoria and of reaching your full potential that underlines the meaning of a peak experience.
As well as a namesake this feeling has strong metaphoric and literal comparisons to the feeling gained from summiting a mountain peak. Whilst you don’t have to stand on the top of the world to achieve this feeling we do believe that an adventure in the outdoors, however big or small, will offer a great opportunity to achieve a peak experience and thus help you reach your full potential.

The Peak Adventure, initially, is an account of some amazing trips and adventures that have helped fulfil our lives. We have recalled them here for you to follow in the hope that we can inspire you on your own adventures.

Moving forwards we are planning to develop a range of guided adventure programs designed to introduce people to outdoor adventures of all sizes, big and smallHere at The Peak Adventure we believe that the great outdoors, with all the adventures that can be had in it, offers many alternative opportunities to experience things you may not normally experience. We also believe that outdoor adventures offer some of the best opportunities to get away from the stress and distraction of your everyday. This can help you to be more present and provide headspace for feelings and thoughts. We want to develop adventure programs to showcase these and the many other benefits that having these exciting new experiences can have.  All of this combined creates the basis of our mission to help you all….

“Reach Your Peak Through Adventure”

The peak adventure has been designed to promote the positive impact that nature and the outdoor environment has upon mental health and wellbeing. Our mission is to provide opportunity, for those who would otherwise not access (hard to reach groups and individuals), for adventure. Exploring the outdoors and creating mind-sets that empower participants to develop resilience through their own outdoor adventures. Part of the mission is to develop awareness of the powerful influence nature has upon our wellbeing. We will provide an environment where thoughts, feelings and emotions can be explored and openly discussed as part of the journey.
